Achievements
HMF has a network of over 150 people at the grassroots level in the Osmanabad and Sholapur Districts. The organisation's work involves nearly 100 villages and a population of more than 150,000 people.
HMF‘s hospital provides health consultation at an affordable rate to 5,000 patients a year.
In Sholapur city, HMF provided prenatal care education and support services to nearly 18,000 pregnant women from 2008 to 2013.
HMF’s science center provides education services and laboratory facilities to 900 students a year. Furthermore, HMF also coordinates need based scholarship schemes for students.
HMF is the pioneer for providing health insurance for pregnant women in India. This initiative was widely advocated in the country resulting in significant changes to health insurance policies throughout India. We are the first to introduce Maternal Risk in a health insurance scheme, a model which has been recognized at national level.
HMF’s work has been presented at over 25 conferences throughout the world.
HMF has hosted over 15 international students from around the world since 2000.
Research papers in peer reviewed journal are published on a regular basis (please see journal papers section in detail). Top journals include Lancet Global Health, Public Health, and the BMJ.
The self-help group project provides annual benefit to over 200 families.
Bharat Vaidya (Village Health Workers) have treated more than 200,000 patients over 15 years.
At national level in the country Bharat Vaidya was recognised during the development of ASHA program.
